I (Marc) am moving with my family away from Hawaii to take a new job. Believe, me, this was not a decision taken lightly. I knew it would seriously change things for Upstanding Youth. I knew it meant our current recording projects will come to an end, that we won’t be playing live anymore unless the stars somehow align, and that UY as it exists today won’t be able to get together once a week to play great songs and dream big. This was not an easy decision to make.

What is final is that I am moving. UY being over, that is not final. This is not the end, it is a change. I know that I personally will continue to write and perform one way or another until they pry my guitar from my cold dead hands. And when all the members of UY are together in Hawaii for whatever reason we will rock the island again. I know that each member of UY will continue to pursue their personal as well as musical dreams regardless of this change also. So the music will go on and UY is technically not dead.

So to celebrate this change we’re going to have a farewell show. This might be the last time we ever play live, but I really hope not. You should really be at Hawaiian Brian’s on 25 May – we’re likely going to play a 2 hour set (trying to play as much of our material as we can) and we intend to sear a musical memory into the minds and ears of everyone there. More than that, we just really want to share a moment and create a memory with the friends and fans who have been a part of UY and let you know how much we appreciate you.

So this is the reason for a farewell show. We hope those who are on Oahu and have been a part of our lives will make it to the show.

The end of the video features a clip from a brand new song, which will be released with our first in a series of 3P’s. The release will be on 11/17/11, and will coincide with a live streaming concert on the same day.
